RYA Powerboat Course : Advanced

RYA POWERBOAT COURSE : ADVANCED

The RYA powerboat course at the advanced level is for the more experienced powerboater. This two-day RYA course involves a night passage and tests the skills needed to operate a powerboat in more testing conditions.  The Advanced Powerboat course is normally run this course September to April. This RYA course is used by most Professional organisations such as the RNLI, Coastguard, Military and the Police as their standard for driving fast planning boats.

A good level of boating & Navigation experience, communication and team leadership is required for you to be successful in this course.

• Day & Night Pilotage
• Navigation
• Fuel and engine checks
• Effect of waves and rougher conditions
• Power trim and trim tabs
• Berthing in different situations
• Lee Shore Manoeuvring
• Advanced Handling
• Search & Rescue Patterns/Procedures
• Use of GPS in high-speed navigation and pilotage by Night

Duration: 2 days (Timings Depending on time of Year)

Minimum age: 17

Equipment Needed: Wellingtons/Old Trainers, Hat & Gloves, Waterproofs, head torch. We provide life jackets and can provide lightweight waterproofs if required.
